Maitlandfield House is situated almost at the edge to the River Tyne, infact just 300 yards from it. It is the perfect base for annual Salmon or Trout fishing trips or short fishing breaks.

East Lothian offers the keen angler the opportunity to fish for all three of Scotland's native fish; brown trout, sea trout and salmon. The two main rivers in the county, the Tyne and the Esk, offer fishing for all three while the Whiteadder and Hopes reservoirs offer brown trout. Rainbow trout are regularly stocked in the Markle Fisheries at East Linton and the Tweedale Fisheries at Gifford.
