Gullane, East Lothian

Gullane Beach

Gullane is a small town on the southern shore of the Firth of Forth in East Lothian on the Scottish East Coast. The town sports an award-winning beach, Gullane Bents, and is easily accessible from the Maitlandfield House Hotel. A popular commuter village, the city is some twenty miles away from the capital city of Edinburgh, and connected through the John Muir Way, a long distance footpath along the coast, to Musselburgh and Dunglass.

Gullane is popular with golfers, as it is home to the Muirfield Golf course, which has hosted the The Open Championship on several occasions, most recently in 2002. IT is also host to several other high-quality golf courses in the village itself and the surrounding area. The Gullane Golf Club, for example, has three challenging, but rewarding 18-hole links courses. In midsummer, golf is possible into the late evening, even as late as 10:30 pm, allowing a full round to be completed after dinner.
